New for the 2025-26 School Year, we have created Jew-Do (pronounced like "Judo") Tefillah Learning, a new Hebrew curriculum tailored to the Jarson Education Center and Adath Israel, where students will study and become proficient in reading specific prayers*. Once they have completed a packet, they will earn a new color Jew-Do belt in their siddur. To earn the next level belt, prayers must be read or sung from the Hebrew without transliteration. Each packet has two copies of each prayer- one in Hebrew only, and one in Hebrew and transliteration. The transliteration may be used for at-home study and to confirm correct pronunciation, but students must read or sing from the Hebrew-only version in order to earn their next Jew-Do belt. You can access recordings of the prayers and download the packets at https://www.adath-israel.org/jew-do.
*The majority of the Jew-Do prayers are ones that students will be leading during in-school Tefilah classes, their b'mitzvah service, and in the main Shabbat services at Adath Israel and beyond. Some prayers that are included provide an additional challenge for students and are not regular Shabbat or weekday prayers.
